Told in drawings and handwriting, this story follows Doreen, also known as Dodo, and newly known as The Doodlebug, as she and her family try out living in San Francisco. Dodo doesn't just love drawing, she needs it, in order to keep her attention focused on school so she doesn't get expelled like she did in L.A. Dodo's not the only one facing challenges: her sister Momo can't get into the new school's choir, her parents each struggle to get established in new jobs, their apartment is only available temporarily. Even the landlady's cat, Sven, dislikes them. But he's warming up –– and so is San Francisco.
